Chapter 6 -Yuvika's new dress

The answer was no .Yuvika was in a shock.Yuvika was so sad that she banged her rooad been a m's door and closed it and cried loudly.But Yuvika's mum smiled and scurried to the market.It had been a lot of hours since Yuvika's mum had not come home.Suddenly the door bell rang but Yuvika was still sad.Mum quickly rushed to her room with a big packet in her hand which seemed to have the Colour light pink with some stars on it.After some days it was Diwali Yuvika was happy but confused because she had not seen anyone with her dress but.... Then soon her mum come and finally gave her her new dress.Yuvika quickly opened it had saw a her dress it was a a light pink it shone over evryone it had lovely stars on it to make it even more nice.Yuvika was so happy.Then on Diwali she wore it and evryone would WOW!!

What did I do?
I did not do this today but I did it on Monday and that is Pedal Power.We did it the whole day it was so fun.

What did I learn?
I learnt how to ride a  bike with one hand.

My next steps?
My net steps are to not fall over the ground very badly.Because 
I fall on the ground very badly.Somebody was nearly about to drive over me.My friend Riya says that I did not cry.The other thing is to not drive very fast.

What did I do Today?
Today I did a lot of things but I want to reflect on P.E.So we played Capture the flag it was very fun last week the Stonewall beat the Crossy Road but because this week the Crossy Road worked as a team that is why they won.But the Stonewall won with 2 more points.They only won because Mr Hattie was there and Mr Hattie was so happy with us that he gave us 2 extra points we were so happy.So we sort of won.

Next Steps?
My next steps are to work a bit more faster in the game.

shouted Yuvika."What happen"? asked Yuvika's dad."Mum said that she will get me a new dress for Diwali" shouted Yuvika as she jumped across the room.Later on after having food Yuvika's mum was going somewhere with her purse Yuvika thouhght she must be going for my new dress.So Yuvika scurried towards her mother and asked her if she was going to get her new dress.The answer was..................

Chapter 4-When will dad come
Yuvika waited for very long but there was nothing.It was already 9:00 CLOCK.It was time for bed because the next day was school.Yuvika’s mother said “okay Yuvika time for bed”.Oh no thought Yuvika so she flung open her bedroom’s door and steped inside.She jumped on her bed but did not go to sleep it had been one hour but Yuvika’s dad did not come now Yuvika could not wait for the morning to see her brave dad.So she kept awake.Suddenly the lights went on Yuvika thought it was her dad and it she scurried off towards the hall.Yuvika was very happy even more happier then her birthday.She ran towards her dad and huged him.It was the most happy day for Yuvika

Chapter 3-When will dad come????
It was the wonderful and warm morning one of the day’s when Yuvika was very excited about.The big day had arrived what was the big day???????.Want to know okay I will tell you on Monday Yuvika’s dad had gone to work he owned a restaurant  he said he will have to stay there for a week and will be back on Sunday night.Yuvika could not wait for Sunday she kept looking at the clock wishing it was Sunday.At last Sunday had arrived.She jumped up and down droped all her sisters toys and rushed outside she screamed loudly “DAD IS COMING”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.Later on Yuvika realized that her dad was coming at night time so she banged the door and went to her big room.After that Yuvika looked at clock it was only 1:00 clock she wished it was night.Finally it was night time but it was only 8:00 clock her Dad would come a bit late so she stepped outside in the twinkling night and sat down on the hard deck.She started to count the sparkly stars that were shone above her face.It was quiet dark now no one was on the street so she stood up and opened the door and walked inside she looked at the clock it was only 8:30 yet she wondered when her dad would come.To see when Yuvika’s dad will come wait until tomorrow to read chapter 4

Chapter 2-Is the pizza ready or not???
Yuvika slowly walked towards her grandma again and asked if her pizza was ready yet.But by the look if it Yuvika was thinking it was not ready.Sadly Yuvika’s grandma said “I am sorry darling there are some of your friends coming today so I will be busy making food for them I will make your tasty pizza for you tomorrow and that is sure”.Yuvika said sadly “that is okay”.She left the room with her head hanging down.The next day Yuvika thought she would not get her pizza today so she did not ask her grandma about it thinking that she would not get any pizza.It was 1:00 clock in the afternoon the bright sun was very warm and Yuvika was playing  outside with her sister.Later she sat down on the hard and rough rocks and thought about her pizza she could not stop thinking about it but now she was sure she would not get it.Suddenly the door flung open she could smell something very delicious when she turned around to look it was her grandma holding a huge plate with some yummy pizza in it.Yuvika ran towards the plate and sat down at once and had her pizza it was very yummy and tasty even more yummy then an ice-cream.She gave her sweet grandma a warm cuddle.

Chapter 1-Can’t wait for pizza
“Darling I will make a very yummy and tasty pizza for you tomorrow” said Yuvika’s Grandma with a huge smile on her face.Yuvika jumped up and down she climbed on the table and acted crazy.She jumped off the table and ran as fast as a cheetah to her lovely grandma and gave her a warm and sweet hug.Yuvika said thank you thank you thank you so much I love she said excitedly.Later on she rushed to her room the next day when she woke up she opened her huge door’s lock and ran towards her grandma's room and sat down beside her.She said in a soft voice “grandma what about the pizza”.Her grandma said “yes yes sure I will make it in the afternoon”.Okay” said
Yuvika.Yuvika could not wait for the afternoon she kept herself very busy throughout the day but Yuvika kept looking at the clock.When was her pizza going to be ready??????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Today I enjoyed playing capture the flag with Mr Hattie and Miss Denuwara.I enjoyed playing capture the flag because it was fun and I learnt how to save something I learnt that we should never give up 

My next steps are to do all my bug club books in the time given.I want to do that because sometimes it is hard for me to find time to do bug club so from now I want to find some time for myself to do bug club

Today I enjoyed doing bubble words it was on my task sheet it was very fun doing it I did different patterns.I liked doing bubble words because it was fun doing different patterns and I even got to know meaning of other words I did not know.

Tomorrow I want to do read to someone because I have not done that yet I was busy doing other things on my task sheet so I want to do read to someone tomorrow.I even want to do a lot of quick write tomorrow so I can get it done.

My achievements at school


Hi everyone,I am Yuvika and today I want to share with you about all the achievements I did this week.So let me tell you what happens every week,my Learning Coach Miss Denuwara every week set's my group tasks.We have these sites which we do learning on the first site is Mathletics,Study ladder and Bug club.Miss Denuwara sets us ten tasks on Mathletics, 13 each tasks of reading writing maths and science on Study ladder  lastly for bug club she gives us 5 books to read.We even get tasks sheets where we have activities to do.So the best thing was that in the first week I completed all my Mathletics tasks and Study ladder tasks we did not have our username and passwords for  bug club so I could not do that.The teacher looked at my work and was happy about it so she gave me the toy that she gives weekly to the person who she thinks was the best.I was the first person to take it home.The week later I did all my tasks again and on Study ladder I was able to get 2,5000 points nobody had that many points in my group.So I got the gold ribbon and nobody else in my group had got that, I was so proud of myself and my family was filled with happiness.Then this week I got a certificate in my school assembly for being helpful, clean, tidy and for finishing all my tasks.I was even more proud then ever so was my family.So that was my achievements at school my goal is to keep o n going like this. hope you enjoyed.

Learning Observed
During iExperience Week 1 Term 3 we were exploring what “being capable” means for us as learners and how we can develop our capabilities. The groups of learners experienced a range of fun tasks and their challenge was to participate and collaborate to improve their skills. This led to talking about setting goals to help us improve our capabilities. This group of learners set a goal to sort the maths counters the fastest way possible. After their rotation of different fun tasks the learners gathered together to think and discuss what being a capable learner would look like. They came up with these ideas: being independent; having an attitude of “I can do it”; being confident; being persistent and not giving up; trying things in different ways and self managing themselves. They also made the connections with ways they could develop your capabilities:  by training your brain by practicing and  remembering, trying your best, working hard, having an open mindset to try and learn new things and setting goals. They were  introduced to the SMART acronym to help with setting goals. The learners had time to think about the things they were capable at and then consider the areas they need to develop their capabilities in. The learners were then asked to think of 4 goals for themselves . An academic goal,a social goal, a physical goal and a #oresome goal.

Yuvika has been attending swimming lessons at the Otara Community pool over the last 8 weeks. Over the 8 weeks she connected with her tutor Peter and built a trusting relationship with him. She consistently collaborated and cooperated with his requests. Yuvika  demonstrated that she was fairly confident propelling herself forward using one breath for 7 meters and was grouped accordingly. Her first goal was to focus on creating rocket arms when stroking. At times her tutor had her using a kickboard to practice this skill using both freestyle and backstroke arms. Peter had her group practicing swimming on their side, shoulder to the ceiling in preparation for rolling. She progressed to using rolling onto her side in preparation for breathing combined with stroking arms. At her evaluation session Yuvika demonstrated that she was capable of swimming using overarm freestyle and kicking for 25 meters. During the Water Safety week she enjoyed the sensation of floating using a life jacket and joined in and contributed to her group forming a ladder and huddle replicating what a group of survivors would do in the ocean to keep warm. She was committed to her attending her lessons and even when she was sick she requested to travel to the pools so she could see what skills her group were working on. During that session she spent her time encouraging the other members of her group. She has amazing self managing skills organising her swimming gear and ensuring she was ready changed for classes and dressed on time to catch the bus back to school.

Next Learning Steps
  • Using a kickboard rolling onto her side, breathing then stroking arms high and touching her ears and kicking, breathing for 3 strokes and repeating.
  • Floating on her back with a kickboard on his front and using backstroke arms high and touching her ears then grasping her kickboard.
  • Swimming freestyle with rolling and breathing 50 meters.
  • Swimming  backstroke independently using arm strokes every 5 kicks.  
  • Family taking him to the local pools so he can keep up skills and enjoy the water.

Yuvika's Nail Art Learning Story

Learning Observed
Yuvika chose to participate in an iExperience that involved using a cork tile, hammer, nails and thread to create an artwork. The aim of this artwork was to ‘Pay it Forward’. She needed to think about someone in her life who she could encourage by gifting them her cork tile. The learners needed to plan out their design and colour choice based on the person they had in mind to receive their finished work (connected).
Yuvika collaborated with other learners in the planning and creating stages to overcome challenges and to help them with their decisions about colours. She extended her capabilities by safely using a hammer to put in the nails and show thought about how close/far apart each nail needed to be.

Next Learning Steps
  • Write a letter/postcard to the person who will be receiving the tile. Tell them about what the materials are and how it was made.
  • Display tiles in the habitat and talk to other learners about how they were made.

Komal & Yuvika's Rugby Learning Story

Key Competency: Participating and Contributing, Relating to Others
Learning Observed
For PE, LH1 learners were focussing on passing a rugby ball with the correct techniques. We focused on how to place our hands on the ball, how to position our arms and how to aim. The learners then needed to pair up and take turns to practice passing the ball through a hoop.
Samantha and Aditi collaborated with positive attitudes. They took some time to practise their techniques and support each other with reminders of what the success criteria were. They made an effort to ensure they weren’t rushing, and making sure that they were 100% comfortable with these skills before moving on to the next step of their capability (making the hoop a moving target by lifting it up and down).

  • Remember that a rugby pass is across the body, starting from the hip farthest away from the target.
  • Practise passing through the hoop from a greater distance.

ans-I am most proud of my maths work because everyday I get to learn new ways of solving sums then I use them and my teacher gets very happy with me.  



2.Why are you proud of it?
Because I got to learn new ways of solving sums and then my teacher was proud of me.


3. What are you least proud of this term?
I am least proud of that I was siting next to my friend and talking to them.  



4.Why are you not proud of it?
Because I got least work done.

My next goal would be to try to sit away from my friend and get more work done.
